Quizzes and certificates

A quiz is what finishes a module. Generate one from the module's lessons, write it by hand or import it from a spreadsheet, set the pass mark, and turn the module into a certification that expires and renews.

Before you begin

  • A module with its lessons added. See build a training module if you have not made one yet.
  • To generate questions: lessons with text in them, such as a PDF or a web page. A module of videos alone does not give the generator enough to work from.
  • To import questions: a CSV or Excel file, or the template you can download from the quiz screen.
Step 1

Add a quiz to the module

Open the module, use the menu next to its title and choose Add New Quiz. Generate With AI reads the text of the module's lessons and writes questions from it: choose how many questions and how hard, and it usually takes 10 to 20 seconds. Add Manually gives you an empty question to write yourself.

Every question has one correct answer out of the options you give. Edit any generated question, change which answer is correct, or delete the ones you do not want. Then set the Passing Score, which starts at 70%, and how many questions each attempt draws.

Save as Draft keeps the quiz to yourself. Publish makes it the last step of the module: partners reach it once they have completed every lesson.

  4. The questions are drawn from the module's lessons. Edit any of them.
  5. Set the pass mark, and how many questions each attempt draws.
  6. Publish when it reads right.
  7. Partners take the quiz once they finish the lessons.
Step 2

Import questions from a spreadsheet

If you already keep a question bank in a spreadsheet, choose Import questions on the quiz screen. Download template gives you a file with the right columns, one question per row:

  • Question: the question text.
  • Answer A to Answer D: the choices. Add Answer E and Answer F before Correct answer if you need more.
  • Correct answer: the letter of the right choice.
  • Points: optional.

Choose whether the file adds to the questions you already have or replaces them all. The preview counts the rows that are ready, the ones that need fixing, the ones already in the quiz, and what the quiz will hold afterwards. Nothing is saved until you import.

Step 3

Make the module a certification

Use Edit Module and switch on “This module is a certification”. From then on, everyone who passes the quiz gets a numbered certificate in their name.

Choose how long a certificate is valid for: 6, 12 or 24 months, or never expires. Set a certificate prefix of two to eight capital letters or digits, and the dialog shows what the numbers will look like and the date a certificate issued today would be valid until.

The Certified tab on the Training page lists every holder with their partner, the certification, when they were certified and when it expires. Filter to the certificates expiring in the next 30 days, or those already expired, to see who needs to renew.

Where to go next

Common questions

How many attempts does a partner get?

Three. Each attempt shows the pass mark and which attempt it is. Once a partner has used all three, the quiz shows that the maximum number of attempts has been reached.

What does Questions per attempt do?

Leave it blank and every attempt asks every question. Set a number and each attempt draws that many at random from the quiz, so a retake is not the same paper. When questions are drawn at random, the results screen does not show the answer review.

Can I see what the quiz looks like before publishing it?

Yes. Preview the quiz from the module, and switch between all questions and a random draw to see what one attempt looks like.

What happens to rows in my spreadsheet that have a problem?

The preview counts them under Need fixing and lists what is wrong with each row. Nothing is imported until every row is fixed: correct the file, save it and upload it again. Questions already in the quiz are counted separately and not added twice.

What is on the certificate?

The person's name, the module, the certificate number, the date it was issued, the date it is valid until, and "Issued by" your company. Partners download it as a PDF.

What happens when a certificate is about to expire?

Renewal opens 30 days before it expires. The holder gets a reminder in Airstride and by email, and renews by passing the quiz again. Your Certified tab shows who is expiring in the next 30 days and who has already expired.

If I change the validity or the prefix, does it change certificates already issued?

No. Changes apply to certificates issued from then on.
